Jonah Jayne Leads Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball Past Pine Eagle

Jonah Jayne struck out 10 batters as the starter led Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball past Pine Eagle 6-1 on Friday. Jayne surrendered one hit and one run over four and two-thirds innings while walking three.
Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball first got on the board when Matt Blake singled, scoring one run.
Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Jayne singled to center field, and Pine Eagle committed an error, each scoring one run.
E Ransom started on the mound for Pine Eagle. The starter surrendered five hits and four runs (three earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking two. Ridge Witherspoon pitched two and one-third innings of no-run ball for Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball in relief. The pitcher surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking one.
Jayne led Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball with two runs batted in. The leadoff hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Carter Pansevicius, Jayne, and Ledger Johnson each collected two hits for Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball. Jayne and Witherspoon each stole multiple bases for Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball. Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball ran wild on the base paths, tallying six stolen bases for the game.
L Harris and B Gillmore were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Pine Eagle while hitting back-to-back. Pine Eagle turned one double play in the game.
Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball will travel to Pine Eagle for their next game on Friday.

CU Baseball recap 4/21 vs Elgin/Imbler
Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball Secure Win Against Elgin

Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball were victorious against Elgin 6-4 on Tuesday.
Elgin opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two singles. Elgin first got on the board when Waylon McClure singled, scoring one run.
Elgin added one run in the third. Ryder Spratling grounded out, making the score 3-0.
Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Matt Blake on a full count that drove in two.
Kash Carreiro earned the win for Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball. The reliever surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Jonah Jayne opened the game for Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball. The hurler surrendered four hits and three runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking three. John R started on the hill for Elgin. The pitcher surrendered three hits and five runs (four earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three. Blake tossed one and one-third innings of shutout ball for Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball in relief. The hurler allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Blake, Carreiro, and Ridge Witherspoon each collected one hit for Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball. Blake, Carreiro, Ledger Johnson, and Witherspoon each drove in one run for Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball.
Roan S. went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Elgin in hits. Spratling and S. each drove in one run for Elgin.
Union/Cove Varsity CU Baseball will travel to Pine Eagle for their next game on Friday.
