While Cove School District continues to plan for school reopening this fall, we recognize that having in-person classes will bring scores of individuals into contact with each other on a regular basis. Cove School District acknowledges that reopening schools may create special concerns for some families. Our primary goal is to do this in a manner that is consistent with guidelines set forth by the Oregon Department of Education and Oregon Health Authority. We are committing resources, energy and effort to keep students, staff and our community safe while providing a quality school experience.
In order to allow staff adequate time to facilitate a safe, efficient, and instructionally effective reopening, Cove School will push its calendar start date for fall to August 31. While some academic testing and student registration tasks may take place during the week of August 24, classes are now set to resume on campus with a largely unmodified daily schedule beginning August 31. With the ongoing assistance of a committee of parents, teachers, staff, and community members, I anticipate putting out a draft detailed operational plan for reopening by July 20. I feel confident that together we can continue to safely provide the excellent educational opportunities you have come to expect from Cove School District.
