K-12 Conferences- Thursday, October 26th

This year our School Board and Administration have asked our teaching staff to try a new system for student/parent/teacher conferences this fall. Conferences will be an open-door format in hopes of more easily accommodating high school families as well as families traveling from La Grande.  The conference times will be Thursday, October 26th (4:00-8:00pm) and Friday, October 27th (8:00am-noon) and the target time for each meeting will be 15 minutes.

High school and middle school teachers will all be located in the high school gym so parents can talk with any or every instructor they wish.  Elementary teachers will be located in their classrooms.

To alleviate the lines for conferences, elementary school teachers will be posting sign-up sheets on classroom doors so you can claim a spot in the lineup while you chat with another teacher down the hall or in the gym.  We want to meet with all of you, as communication about your child’s learning is vitally important to their success. We look forward to visiting with you.

Head Lice

Cove School District has had a few isolated cases in the district. It is not prevalent. Our policy is to send the student home with instructions on treatment. Following treatment we will check the student and either readmitted to school or deny admittance if appropriate. The absence of live lice and nits is required for readmittance. If you have any questions please call 541 568-4424.

High School Secretary/Attendance

There has been some confusion on where and whom the High Schoolers are suppose to contact for various reasons. Kelsey is the District Secretary.  She will handle everything as before. Ginger Faro is backup. So, do what you have done in the past. Hope this clears up some confusion.

Our Mechanical Mascot

Russel Olmsted (lovingly referred to as “Teach”) is always up to something with his shop class.  This year’s project is ambitious and amazing.  For now, let’s just call it Cove’s Mechanical Mascot.  Here is a little video of them working out some of the kinks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM95ws8yVd4&feature=youtu.be

Bus

Just a Reminder to not park in the Bus areas in front of the Elementary School and the loading area in front of the parking lot of the High School. The buses need to be able to pull in and out.

Thank you!

Cross Walk

Parents PLEASE remind your children to use the cross walk. There has been alot of students and parents crossing the road before and after school. Use the cross walk for safety. Thank you we appreciate it!

No Personal Devices Allowed on School’s Wireless

Our position is “No personal devices may be connected to the school’s wireless.” It does not matter if you have found a way to get the password or not. We will monitor classrooms and hallways for use of personal devices and check the system from time to time. If a student logs onto our network, they will receive an in-school suspension for insubordination.

Thank you for your cooperation,
